SMART SYSTEMS INTEGRATION 2009
European Conference & Exhibition on Integration Issues of Miniaturized Systems - MEMS, MOEMS, ICs and Electronic Components
10 - 11 March 2009, Brussels, Belgium, Crowne Plaza Hotel
http://www.mesago.de/en/SSI/main.htm
In the framework of the conference there have been three events:
11/03/09 Presentation of Hydromel project by Alexander Steinecker, project Coordinator
11/03/09 Tutorial presented by Quan Zhou and Pierre Lambert
Within the framework products miniaturization, assembly of miniaturized parts is dominated by capillary forces, at least for components with a size ranging from a few tens of microns up to a few millimeters. This tutorial presents the basics for capillary forces modelling and measurement. Design rules will be presented in relation with the development of a capillary gripper. Flexible assembly based on the use of robotic assembly and fluidid self-alignment properties were also discussed.
12/03 2009 - Hydromel EU-Project : Workshop (summary of presentation available in the HighTech Area)
Organised by Pierre Lambert at the Université libre de Bruxelles pierre.lambert@ulb.ac.be
The thematic proposed for this workshop is the assembly of small or microcomponents with a hybrid strategy for the pick and place operations: the goal is to perform the coarse placement with robotic tools and the fine positioning with self-assembly.
Topics:
-
applications of precision pick and place or assembly;
- physical principles suitable for self-assembly (capillary forces, hydrophillic forces);
- modelling and simulation of these physical effects (surface science, adhesion, capillary forces, mechanical deformation,...)
- experimental tools and results
